Acquisition

An Ancient relic obtained as a choice from Dalv (Act 3). One of the options presented when you meet Dalv in Act 3. Extremely important as a final-act power-up.

Rating

Snecko Eye was one of the most beloved relics in Slay the Spire 1, and it retains top-tier status in STS2. You gain Confused, which randomizes card costs to 0-3 every turn, but your hand size increases by 2 (to 7), letting you prioritize the cards that rolled 0 cost.

The Math Behind Confused

  • Expected cost is (0+1+2+3)/4 = 1.5 — so any card costing 2 or more averages a lower cost.
  • Out of 7 cards in hand, roughly 1.75 are 0-cost on average (25% chance each).
  • Because you prioritize 0-cost plays, actual average play cost is lower than 1.5.
  • A cost-2 card becomes expected cost 1.5, a cost-3 card becomes expected cost 1.5 — higher-cost cards benefit more.

When to Take It

  • If deck average cost is 1.5 or higher, taking it is basically correct.
  • Avoid if you have many 0-cost cards (Shiv spam, Rage loops) — the cost-up risk is too high.
  • You take it in Act 3 when deck direction is already set; if you've been collecting high-cost cards, take without hesitation.
  • In decks with several Powers, 0-cost Power drops early create explosive setup.

Per-Character Rating

Character Rating Comment
Ironclad S+ Heavy high-cost attacks and Powers going to 0 cost is devastating. Best synergy with Strength builds.
Silent B Decks full of Shivs or 0-cost cards actually suffer cost bumps. Poison/Power builds benefit, though.
Defect S High-cost Orb Powers dropping at 0 cost completes setup instantly. Outstanding with Creative AI.
Necrobinder A+ High-cost summon cards at 0 lets you swarm early. Also pairs well with Sacrifice effects.
Regent A Star-consumption cards complicate the call, but the hand-size bump is strong. Strongly recommended if many high-cost Forge cards.

Synergies

Card / Relic Reason
High-cost cards in general 25% chance to roll 0 on a cost-2/3 card dramatically boosts play frequency.
Power cards Multiple high-cost Powers dropping at 0 cost deploys a full Power suite in one turn.
Gambling Chip Redraw to dump cards that rolled expensive.
Runic Pyramid Retain the hand and re-roll costs next turn for extreme burst potential.
Whisper Earring More hand = more choice; extra draw further amplifies the payoff.
Huge Capsule Build around Snecko Eye with high-cost cards and random relic to compound the effect.

Common Pitfalls

  • Confused re-randomizes cost "at draw time each turn." Cards retained via Retain are re-rolled too.
  • X-cost cards are unaffected (display changes but energy usage is standard).
  • Never take it with a 0-cost-centric deck — it only raises expected cost.
  • Pairs excellently with Exhaust — luxuriate in firing off 0-cost high-cost Exhaust cards.
