An X-cost AoE dealing 5 damage x X (8 damage x X upgraded) — the pinnacle of AoE. Power scales with Energy poured in, and combined with Strength buffs, it delivers explosive damage. Upgraded becomes 8 damage per 1 Energy — stellar cost efficiency. Paired with Energy acceleration (Bloodletting, Offering, Bonfire Spirits), it can sweep the board in a single turn. A main AoE in multi-enemy fights and one of Ironclad's strongest finishers.

Basic principle: secure maximum Energy, then fire. Expand the Energy pool with Bloodletting, Offering, and Bonfire Spirits (turn-start +1-2 Energy). Playing Setup Strike first loads Strength onto every Whirlwind hit. Demon Form (turn-start Strength) compounds per turn, snowballing Whirlwind's total damage. Especially strong in boss fights with multiple enemies, distributing damage across targets simultaneously.

• Bonfire Spirits: Turn-start +1-2 Energy power. Reliably raises Whirlwind's X value every turn.
• Bloodletting: 3 HP for 2-3 Energy skill. Cast before Whirlwind to boost X and maximize damage.
• Demon Form: Turn-start Strength scaling power. Every hit rides Strength, compounding Whirlwind's output.
• Inflame: Immediate 2-3 Strength power. Pairs with Whirlwind for strong early damage.
• Setup Strike: This-turn 2-3 Strength attack. Cast before Whirlwind so all hits ride the buff.
