Acquisition
During the "Sunken Statue" event, pick the Stone Sword; defeating 5 elites afterward transforms it into the Jade Sword. There is no direct acquisition path.
Rating
Jade Sword is an Event relic that grants 3 Strength at combat start. Strength 3 adds +3 damage to every Attack card, so it synergizes especially well with multi-hit cards. The effect itself is simply powerful.
The problem is the acquisition condition. You must first take Stone Sword and then defeat 5 elites, which typically happens very late in the run (late Act 2 into Act 3). The Strength buff is most valuable early, but you only receive it in the endgame — so the practical power spike is lower than it looks on paper.
Many players regard it as a "disappointment relic" with the feeling that "a deck capable of killing 5 elites is already strong." The Strength 3 effect is excellent in isolation, but the long investment window plus a wasted relic slot during that window means that picking gold in the Sunken Statue event is often the more rational choice. Ratings improve in builds where Strength provides outsized value, such as Silent's Shiv axis.
Per-Character Rating
| Character | Rating | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Ironclad | B | High damage makes elite kills easy, but the Strength +3 benefit is relatively smaller than on other characters |
| Silent | B+ | Multi-hit Shivs maximize the Strength benefit. Poison builds gain less |
| Defect | C+ | Orb damage doesn't scale with Strength, so the benefit is narrow |
| Necrobinder | B- | Osti's damage doesn't scale with Strength; only your own attacks do |
| Regent | B | Attack-heavy builds benefit greatly. Forge-type synergies are especially good |
Synergies
| Card / Relic | Reason |
|---|---|
| Multi-hit cards | Strength 3 applies to every hit, so more hits mean much higher total damage |
| Shiv cards (Silent) | 0-cost Shivs also gain Strength, making the Shiv axis extremely potent |
| Black Star | Extra elite rewards help push toward Stone Sword transformation while also adding relics |
How to Use
- The 5-elite kill condition is typically met in late Act 2 to Act 3. Until then, the Stone Sword is fully dead weight.
- Actively picking elite-heavy routes speeds up the transformation, but force-feeding elites and losing HP defeats the purpose.
- Strength 3 is maximized in Attack-centric decks. Skill- or Power-focused builds see less value.
- On Ascension 9 and above, the 5-elite condition becomes even harder to satisfy.
