Golden Compass

Golden Compass is Tescatara's Ancient relic that reveals every node on the map. No direct combat boost, but optimal route choice becomes possible, indirectly lifting run success rate.

Map Reveal Benefits

• Placement of Elites, shops, rests, events, and normal combats all visible
• When HP is low, you can chart a route that reliably hits a rest node
• Accurate decisions on whether to dodge or actively hit Elites
• Shop placement known — plan where to spend Gold
• Event nodes' positions known — prep for deck-altering events

Strategic Value

• Information is crucial in roguelikes. Fewer unknowns mean more accurate decisions
• On high Ascension especially, route misreads are fatal — map reveal's value rises
• Pairs with Black Star for efficient Elite hunting while seeing Elite placement

Vs. Other Ancients

• Compared to direct boosts (Energy bumps, card morphs), the visible effect is subtler
• But "routes that keep you alive" are routinely undervalued
• Advanced players understand info's value more — rating rises on high Ascension

Character Rating

• Check the whole map first and plan the optimal path to the boss
• If Elite → Rest → Shop is ideal, build the route around that ordering
• With HP to spare take Elite routes; when fragile, flex to safe routes
• Note event-node positions and prep for deck-altering events (removal, card add, etc.)
