- 214K
- Moves that are plus on Block
- MP
- 3HK
- Jump is 44F
- Jumps are 2F easier to anti-air compared to other characters
- Also jump attacks themselves aren’t strong, so properly anti-air her jumps
Neutral (Awareness Priority)
- [4]6LP counter
- Blocking [4]6LP from far away increases Chun-Li’s Advantage frames, making her offense stronger
- It’s fine to Block, but try to Block it at close range
- Buffered medium attack counter
- LP > 4MP and LP > 2MK become combos on Counter Hit, so many Chun-Li players buffer them
- After Blocking jab, it’s often important to counter with a 7F or faster medium move
- Advanced players will use strings like HP from jab Block confirm
- If they’re doing this, one-Block jump is the counter
- LP > 4MP and LP > 2MK become combos on Counter Hit, so many Chun-Li players buffer them
- MP
- A normal that is +2F on Block
- Strings after Blocking it:
- Standing jab > 4MP > Medium Hyakuretsukyaku
- Many Chun-Li players buffer 4MP after standing jab
- There’s a 9F gap, so you want to get a return with an 8F or faster move
- MP > Throw or Standing jab
- Throw
- Standing jab > 4MP > Medium Hyakuretsukyaku
- (Jumping) 2MK
- Can stomp up to three times, then follow up with (Jumping) HK for four total air attacks
- Chun-Li has multiple safe jump routes after combos, so she may use this move to stomp multiple times for gauge recovery. Counters are as follows:
- 1st stomp > Jump attack
- Walk forward > Fuzzy 4F move
- Walking forward can whiff the jump attack
- Then Fuzzy 4F gets Punish Counter Hit
- Depending on the normal you press, the second jump attack may Hit, so check per character
- Air throw
- Walk forward > Fuzzy 4F move
- 1st stomp > Jump attack
214P
Various follow-ups are possible from here:
- 214P > LP
- Mash punish
- 214P > MP
- Projectile evade
- 214P > HP
- Overhead
- 214P > LK
- Used in combos
- 214P > MK
- Used in combos
- 214P > HK
- Used in combos
Recommended Counter
Since it’s used cancelled from normals with varying frame data depending on what she cancels from, memorizing everything isn’t realistic. So just learn one gimmick and punish it.
The reset 214P > HP can be Fuzzied:
- Press a light attack at the timing you would Block 214P > LK
[4]6LP
Blocking [4]6LP from far away increases Chun-Li’s Advantage frames, making her offense stronger. If she fires it, walk forward and Block — maintaining awareness to prevent true Block strings is important.
If you can Block it up close, [4]6LP > raw Rush can be interrupted, so use invincible on Chun-Li’s Rush confirm.
Recommended Counter
Block at close range to minimize Advantage frames.3HK
Chun-Li’s cross-up special move
Recommended Counter
It only has cross-up hitbox, so remember it’s easy to dodge by walking forward. After dodging with walk forward, there are 13F of recovery, so a heavy attack could fit, but it’s not realistic — use a medium move for a solid combo.3HP
Chun-Li’s Overhead
Recommended Counter
Mainly used during Rush Oki, but know that there are sustained setplays during specific combos.LPLK
Chun-Li has +11F Advantage The situation after throw is not very strong.
- Without Back Rise, micro walk meaties strikes
- Throw doesn’t meaty
- If you confirm Rush, OD invincible is guaranteed
- With Back Rise, distance is too far for Oki
Recommended Counter
- Take Back Rise to remove Oki — when in doubt, Back Rise
- If you have gauge to spare, Quick Rise is fine
4LPLK
Chun-Li has +13F Advantage The situation after throw is not very strong.
- Without Back Rise, micro walk meaties throw
- With Back Rise, distance is too far for Oki
Recommended Counter
- Unlike forward throw, throw is meatied without recovery, so take Back Rise
